
As one of the largest hostel companies in Europe and with locations in some of the continent’s most exciting cities, the Clink Hostel brand was looking to expand further. However, in light of the growth of the affordable lodging market and with the influx of new low-budget brands, Clink realised that in order to stay competitive they needed a hostel brand that is both distinctive and experiential. Therefore, Clink brought in MAp to, first, challenge and sharpen the Clink brand, and second, create a Clink brand manual to be used as a branding guide for subsequent expansion.
Brand Creation, Brand Activation
To challenge and sharpen the Clink Hostel brand, MAp performed research and analysis into the market, target audience, relevant trends and Clink’s own performance. Our findings and initial workshops with the Clink team indicated that the existing brand did not require drastic changes, but did require an infusion of life and spirit. How we decided to achieve that was by creating a strong emotional storytelling hook and sharpening the Clink brand accordingly.
As part of our journey together, we held workshops with the core team to co-create the future hostel brand elements and align everyone. The final brand manual outlined not only the new brand basics and elements but also how to activate the storytelling hook along the Clink guest journey. This set the basis for all brand activities and growth moving forward.
It is our hope that we changed the world for many young travellers through this project with Clink Hostels. And we look forward to watching Clink continue to grow and expand in the years to come!
